My pastor is a fundamentalist Baptist preacher. He's a big believer in traditional marriage when it comes to other people, but a huge hypocrite when it comes to himself.
CASE IN POINT:
My pastor has an 11-year-old daughter. She has a perfect frame for lifting heavy loads and plowing fields.
A 74-year-old member of our church is widowed and quite wealthy. He offered to purchase my pastor's daughter as a slave, and also for breeding purposes. But instead of supporting traditional marriage, my pastor called the police on this poor old man.
How can I get my pastor to support traditional marriage as it was practiced in biblical times? How can I get my pastor to support traditional marriage?
It seems innocent enough to issue snide remarks, but the harm is not to others, it is to oneself.
Although one is perhaps not aware of the Law of Karma, it, like death, does not depend upon ones awareness of it to operate.
Every thought, and certainly every statement one makes that is harmful to another is marked upon some MINDLine within ones MIND realm, and that harm must be visited upon oneself at some point. Either in this lifetime or another. The Law of Karma is an Absolute Law. No one eludes it and every Soul is subject to it.
A word to the wise is sufficient... and if not wise, take the hint anyway.
PeaceHow can I get my pastor to support traditional marriage?
Biblical principles as a marriage guide.
1. Women are property
2. Weddings are the transference of this property from one man ( the father) to another man (groom) for a price. A business contract.
This is
Traditional Marriage according to religion, Islam and Hinduism are just bout the same.
If you support the old man in this situation you are sick and need physiological help. Your pastor did the right thing! Biblical marriage as in the Old Testament is no longer practiced. The Old Testament was a school master to show us that we cannot live Godly with out a holy God helping us. The school master is a reference only, not what we practice in our daily lives.
What the ******* hell is wrong with you?! You can't enslave women and use them for breeding purposes. I'd call the ******* police on him, too!!!!!!
You religious fanatics are so full of ****, you know. We don't have 'traditonal marriages' anymore because we've become more civilized than in the Biblical times.
You know what, go sell YOURSELF as a slave you manwhore.
74 year old 11 year old ugly child.
The old geezer is a child molester for even thinking about the child in such a way. The preacher ws right in calling the police. Only he should have given the geezer a butt whipping first.
The ugly child will find out she is whipped and find somebody whipped to love her. She is too young to do the wild thang. And probably doesn't even have a hint of a rack yet.
What the ****? would you want to have your 11 year old daughter given off as a freaking slave! No.. i mean sorry i dont know where you live.. im in Nyc and i think thats illegall.. no if your in another part of the world i get it may be normal so sorry but um its still wrong she's 11... as a matter of fact it doesnt matter her age nobody should be using people as slaves
The solution to your problem is not far from you, ijust go back to Catholic Church if you are one or join them if you are not a Catholic and you will have a priest at your traditional marriage and God will bless your family truely.
What the hell is wrong with you? I should call the police on your whole church because i'm sure theres plenty of that going on.
Disgusting.
Tell your pastor that I'll trade him 3 oxen for his daughter.
Maybe the widower is a homo and you can offer yourself in her place?
Beautifully put!
I guess it all depends on whose tradition we're talking about. LOL
The Bible is clear ... slavery is good but hey ... it's still very human ... there is a few conditions (beating up your slave is ok tho)
WHAT A GREAT BOOK!!!
sorry the laws of the lands have changed unless of course you live in that country they still do it...
Dear Ed,
You posted a good example, one taken straight from the Bible, for Christians to think about. I was 'Christian' as a child because my grandparents were, but I abandoned Christianity at age 9, as soon as I started pondering and asking questions about Bible stories, ones such as in your example above. They didn't make sense; there was no logic to many of them.
I don't understand how so many Christians insist that the Bible is God's word when it so obviously can't possibly be--and I haven't noticed any of my Christian neighbors spending hours sacrificing turtle doves to God on their back yard barbeques while they wear the proper garb, like the Bible says they're supposed to (even spelling out the ceremony in detail).
Christians must think, 'It's too inconvenient to follow God's demand that we ceremoniously sacrifice turtle doves to worship Him. Who's got the time? You can't expect me to give up Saturday football just because God demanded long, boring ceremonial sacrifices of worship! But I WILL self-righteously proclaim ';I'm against Gay marriage because the Bible says it's wrong and the Bible is God's word.';
How can Christians not see their own hypocrisy? That's why I don't trust hard-core Christians--they don't care if they think illogically. But I DO care about people who think illogically regarding their religious beliefs because if they do, then how can I trust them to think logically about real-life issues? I can't. They are Non-Thinkers.
PS to SOO VAIN: Ed is NOT a religious fanatic. He is merely bringing to light an example of Christian hypocrisy to people who ARE religious fanatics to think about. I think Ed has posted a good question for them to ponder.
I think the answer 'times have changed' is interesting, because many Christians will say that the Bible is 100% accurate--ie., 'unchangeable.'
