So what exactly happens if the traditional definition of marriage is not protected?

We cannot allow gay marriage, not because of discrimination, but ';to protect the traditional definition of marriage';.

So how exactly would the quality of life for Americans go down if the ';traditional definition'; of marriage is not protected. Would this effect the institution of marriage adversely? How?

I don't understand someone please help me understand! So what exactly happens if the traditional definition of marriage is not protected?
That argument is made by people who simply fear change and the need to adapt to a changing world. These same people cannot believe that homosexuality is anything but a ';lifestyle choice';.

Heterosexual marriage is not adversely affected by the existence of gay marriage. So what exactly happens if the traditional definition of marriage is not protected?
All those fairy couples are going to barge into my home, convert my husband to homosexuality so he'll leave me, force us all to wear feather boas, and make us all vegetarians.

It will be chaos.
Given the experience of Massachusetts....

Absolutely NOTHING will happen. Life goes on.
