How does gay marriage affect tradition or religion?

I am just wondering once again on the opinion of people for this issue/debate. I have to debate on it in class tomorrow. In my case I am against gay marriage for the debate, but I am for Civil Unions. I don't think the ppl that are gay should get the title, because they already have C.U.'s. Also, this can affect the tradition of people that don't want it, ect...

How would you solve this issue, according to my case?

-if you can please use statistics and information you know to

be against the issue/debate.How does gay marriage affect tradition or religion?
Well I'm not going to do your homework for you, but I will say this.

How would you feel if the State of California passed a law saying that it now recognized ALL High School Diplomas... I mean even ones written on the back of a brown paper bag in purple crayon that said HIGH SKOOL DIPLAMA that was signed by some guy's Mom?

What if they started saying ANYONE with ANY badge was a law enforcement officer... little Dennis Mitchel with his $1.98 plastic SHERRIF badge is now supposed to be on the same level as a 12 year veteran of the Highway Patrol.

Simply saying something is true doesn't make it so. Simply saying that someone has completed High School doesn't mean they have a High School Education, just as saying someone is a trained cop, doesn't make him one.

Saying that two men who live together are married doesn't make it a marriage.

And the State ought not to be in the buisness of lying. How does gay marriage affect tradition or religion?
marriage is not traditionally just between a man and a woman with the Greeks it can be between several individuals. That is one example there are several other cultures that believed similar beliefs at that period in time. There are several religions today that encourage men to have several wives

Open your eyes and learn about the world and stop your myopic views. The constitution says all individual have the right of the pursuit of happiness.

also in response to the best picked answer so if we say a male and female are living together they are married doesn't make it marriage either. I wonder how many heterosexuals are married for love

finally the question was never really answered. it was dodged.

you can't compare these things there is a huge difference between a criminal playing as a cop. and can you honestly tell me that i'm wrong because i'm gay?

Larry: How dare you compare state recognition of the loving relationships that two men or two women have with one another all across the nation to those things? Do you have any idea how insultingly repugnant that is?

As a Non-traditional ordained minister, bishop. I don't have a problem with Gay people, or performing a ';Commitment'; service. The only reason I can use the word ';Commitment'; instead of ';Marriage';, is because legally that's all I can officiate. If u need prayer now :www.lifesripples.org,

I am gay and I have right to get married.

Let anyone marry anyone they want. The only people raising a stink are closeted gays trapped in ';traditional marriages'; living a lie. U will only find hapiness when u accept who u are. How can a straight person be so obsessed with the whole gay marriage issue, unless they really are gay?

The traditional argument loses. Slavery was traditional, does'nt make it right. The religious argument does'nt work , my constitution is not defined by your religion, the recruitment argument? Never had a lesbian knock on my door to recruit me, But oh, those Bible thumpers sure do.

The problem with our government right now is that they are trying to incorporate the religious meaning of marriage into the federal meaning of marriage when there should be a clear separation for the both. If a church chooses not to recognize a gay union, so be it. But the government should.

Personally speaking take it from this point of view. Heterosexual couples can no longer get married...... what would you do...... FIGHT BACK, well that is what I, as well as many others are doing. We feel this is wrong of anyone to have to go through, and we will not stop until we can have the right

Marriage is traditionally defined as between a man and a woman, and we're talking something that has been a part of human culture pretty much since we could walk. Changing that idea isn't happening overnight.

Regarding religion, it's a problem because many view it as a sin. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, I have no idea.

For my part, I have no problem with it because it doesn't affect me in any way, and I don't see how anyone else will be hurt by it.
I don't think anything gays do affects anything except in their own minds.

Marriage is safe and so is religion.
marriage should be a union of 2 people of different gender to procreate naturally. Sorry, but 2 women or 2 men can't do it.

If this is allowed, we will cease to exist if intercourse is ';phased out'; for homosexual couplings. Even in the Plumbing world, 2 males won't fit!
It just aint morally right.
